Today's GIVEAWAY is this lovely embroidery I made of 'Rue's Lullaby' from the Hunger Games:

| Rue's Lullaby |
Deep in the meadow, under the willow
A bed of grass, a soft green pillow.
Lay down your head, and close your sleepy eyes
And when again they open, the sun will rise.
I never really noticed this song while reading the book, but I loved how it was incorporated in the movie. I would tell you more about the scene, but I don't want to spoil it for anybody. Let's just say, SNAPE KILLS DUMBLEDORE.
But srsly. I LOVE the Hunger Games. The book. I threatened divorce to get Mr. Floozy to read it. So he did. And of course, he loved it, too.
As for the movie. Yeah? I think I liked it. I would say that I admired almost all of it, except for the stupid Control Room scenes of the game masters. It just looked too cheesy sci-fi. And it chopped up the tension, making the most exciting parts of the movie suddenly less captivating.
I mean look at this photo of the Tribute from District 13. Horrifying, right?
Sadly, this tribute died from acute wussy-ness.
HERE'S THE RULES AGAIN FOR THE GIVEAWAY:
Enter the contest by posting a comment. What did you think of the movie? What did you think of the book? How much do you want to have Peeta's babies?
Go ahead and comment as many times as you like. This contest closes a little bit earlier than my normal week time. I am going to announce the winner Thursday the 19th, so get your comment in by WEDNESDAY APRIL 18TH MIDNIGHTish. And then I will choose a winner with the random number generator.
MAY THE ODDS BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOR!

I need this. I loved the book. It was my Christmas read between school semesters. Just give it to me dammit.
ReplyDeleteAs for the movie, I LOVED how little music there was...no music telling me how I'm supposed to feel, that's between me and the actors.
ReplyDeleteAnd as for being Peeta's baby maker? He just doesn't do it for me.
I just ruined my chances, didn't day. Eff.
I read the all 3 books in 4 days. Loved them!! They were so awesome! I even loved the movie!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I gotta say I'm team Gale. Yes I love the Peeta character and I get why Katniss digs him. But that's how I feel :-)
Pick me!!
Me. __Mary Ellen Everdeen__
ReplyDeleteI am a librarian and sci-fi/fantasy fanatic....loved everything about them!

I need this for my daughter who is a huge fan. I loved the film and enjoyed the book (though not the second and third ones). Personally I'd go for Haymitch or Cinna but that may be my age talking!

This is so beautiful! I love the movie, but I have to admit I'm one of those tiresome "the book is always better" girls. Still, I'm holding out hope for the second movie. I hope I win, my daughter would love to have this in her room!
ReplyDeleteThe book has been on my nightstand, my daughter has been hounding me to read it. I give! This adorable embroidery is perfect for her dorm room - she's heading off to college this summer and I'll miss her terribly. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to leave my email: bookscout27@earthlink.net
ReplyDeleteThanks again!
Can't wait to see the film and read the book. My hubby took our grandson and they loved it!
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Nettie

I haven't yet read the books nor have I seen the movie. But I am wanting to. My 11 year old grand daughter has read all 3 and loved them.
ReplyDeleteRead all three books and loved each and every one. kathrynnpolfer(at)gmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteI think they did a good job with the movie, it's hard to live up to the books.
ReplyDeleteIf I were younger, Peeta would be it but at my age, Cinna wins out. kathrynnpolfer(at)gmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteNo, No! I was here first! I need this. Wasn't I here first? Oh, well. I need it anyway. Thank you for adding my name.
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched the film yet, but everyone I know that have seen it have given it such a good review, so I am waiting for some spare time to go. Thanks for this chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI beyond loved the books, and the movie was sooo accurate, which is usually not the case and I am so happy about that! But I think the director failed to capture the emotion that Suzanne Collins provides through her writing. Like you said, the control room scenes REALLY downplayed a lot of the crucial scenes. Would love this beautiful piece!
ReplyDeleteI loved the movie! Though I felt that the books were way more in depth, hence, way better than the movie! So if you enjoyed the movie, please read the books! You won't be disappointed!
ReplyDeleteI have read the first book - have not seen the movie - usually I do not as I enjoy the books too much. the stitching is great!
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen the movie yet. Waiting to see it with my sister next week. Love your stitching.
ReplyDeleteA nice giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI still need this. I can take it and hunt down the people who sat behind me as I watched the movie opening weekend, and at the end said, "Well, that was interesting. It was kind of a cliffhanger. Think there will be another movie?", and hit them with it...not hard enough to ruin it, but make my point known.
ReplyDeletePlus, I have another of your amazing works hanging in my bathroom? Need I remind you of the picture of my then three year old sitting on the toilet holding your stitchery that said, "Your poop smells nice".
ReplyDeleteThat's what I thought.
That question mark should be a period. Ok, I'm done posting...for now.
ReplyDeleteI loved the book and I thought the movie was a nice translation. I made Brock read it too. :)
ReplyDeleteThey should have cast a beefier dude for Peeta, but the actor did well with portraying Peeta's persona. LOVED Woody Harrelson as Haymitch.
